GUIDE / APPLICATIONS

Make a clear case for the role.

Choose the relevant evidence, explain the connection and review the documents you will actually use. A practical approach to preparing each application.

Six parts · Includes an evidence note, a paragraph example and a final file checklist.

Start with three things.

  • The exact listing you are applying to.
  • Your current confirmed Profile.
  • Your saved Search requirements.

These answer different questions: what the employer needs, what you bring and what you want from the opportunity.

01 / THE MATERIAL BEHIND THE CLAIM

Choose facts you can explain.

Review the role, organization, dates and scope behind the experience you plan to use. A clear contribution is useful even without a dramatic result. Include measurements when you have evidence for them; describe the work accurately when you do not.

ILLUSTRATIVE EVIDENCE NOTE

Use this structure to collect the detail.

Situation
New colleagues needed a consistent way to handle recurring support questions.
My contribution
I documented the procedures and trained two new colleagues.
Supported result
The documentation was used in their onboarding.
Evidence
A retained project note describing the work.

Use your own facts. This example does not establish faster resolution times, revenue or team leadership.

Confirm corrections in Profile before relying on them in a document. Keep uncertain dates qualified and plans separate from earned qualifications.

What to do with a missing result or qualification

A missing result is a question to resolve, not a reason to invent a number. A planned course or certification stays a plan until you have confirmed award evidence. Select different supported experience when a proposed claim cannot be established.

02 / A ROLE WORTH UNDERSTANDING

Review the opportunity before drafting.

Read the employer’s exact mandatory and preferred requirements. Then review your own must-haves and preferences. The two comparisons should remain clear as you decide whether to pursue the role.

Your qualifications

Which confirmed experience supports each requirement? What is still missing or unclear?

Your search choices

Which conditions match your requirements? What is a preference tradeoff, a conflict or an unanswered question?

Illustrative clarification

If you require a pay minimum and the listing gives no pay, keep it unresolved and seek clarification. Unknown pay does not prove the role meets or fails your minimum.

Use focused questions and saved sources to resolve gaps. When the listing, Profile or Search requirements changes, refresh the affected assessment deliberately. Earlier submitted materials keep their original basis.

03 / A RELEVANT CONNECTION

Write from the requirement to the evidence.

Prepare within the selected job’s Application workspace. Choose resume-only or a resume and cover letter. Request a draft or write manually; either way, inspect the supporting facts beside the paragraph you are editing.

  1. Identify a requirement that matters in this role.
  2. Choose the strongest relevant confirmed contribution.
  3. Explain the connection in plain language.
  4. Remove repetition and claims your evidence cannot support.

ILLUSTRATIVE PARAGRAPH

From a general claim to a specific contribution.

General: “I am an excellent communicator.”

Evidence-led: “I documented recurring support procedures and trained two new colleagues to use them.”

The second sentence gives a reader something concrete to discuss. Use it only when those actions are your confirmed facts.

A cover letter can connect a few relevant contributions with your actual interest in the work. Keep employer research sourced and personal commitments realistic. Answer preparation questions before treating a draft as ready.

If you want to compare or revise the wording

Inspect earlier document versions and their evidence. Editing produces a fresh unapproved version while keeping previous versions available. Document wording does not automatically change your master Profile.

04 / THE FILE THE EMPLOYER WILL READ

Review the rendered documents.

Open the exact DOCX and PDF files for every required document. The editor text is one part of the review; the rendered file shows the page structure, wording and layout you intend to use.

  • Names, roles, organizations and dates match your evidence.
  • Qualifications retain their actual status and any uncertainty.
  • Every claim is relevant and supported.
  • Headings and page breaks remain readable.
  • The resume and cover letter agree on the same facts.
  • All required files are complete and are the versions you intend to submit.

Could you explain every sentence from your own experience?

Record the exact-file reviews and approve the package when you are satisfied. If you edit afterward, check the fresh renditions and record their review. Downloading, selecting a writing method and completing preparation do not approve the documents.

05 / A RECORD OF THE REAL ACTION

Apply externally and keep what you used.

Apply through the employer’s process. Check the attached versions and your answers before submitting. Job Hunter prepares and tracks the work; you make the application yourself.

After submitting, record the actual date and exact materials in the selected job. If you applied with external documents, use the external or historical option. Correct or void a mistaken record deliberately.

Make the record useful for later.

Keep the exact materials, application date and next activity together. Before an interview, you can return to what the employer received rather than guessing which draft you sent.

06 / THE NEXT CONVERSATION

Prepare from the application’s context.

Add a follow-up, response deadline or interview to the recorded application. Check the saved timezone and round. Use Interview Prep to work through your experience stories, questions, gaps and checklist with the submitted materials in view.

ILLUSTRATIVE PREPARATION PROMPT

“Which contribution in my submitted resume could I explain in detail for this round? What did I do, why did it matter and what does the evidence actually show?”

For a reply, save the incoming message in Communication, review the draft’s commitments and edit the wording. Send through your own channel, then record the exact saved response and actual sending time. Copying alone stays unsent.

Record real application outcomes as they happen. Completing an activity does not establish an offer or rejection. Closed records remain history you can inspect.

Keep preparation aids in perspective

Predicted interview questions and unverified employer information remain preparation aids. Label supplied research with its source and date. They do not become confirmed employer facts or new career qualifications.

Begin with one role and your strongest evidence.

Read the requirements, choose relevant contributions and review the exact files before applying.
