GUIDE / GETTING STARTED

Set up a search you can pick up again.

From a resume or a few career notes to a confirmed Profile, a useful job review and your first tracked application.

Seven practical steps · Follow them in order, or use the contents to reach your next task.

Before you begin

Have one useful source at hand: a resume, project notes or a short description of work you have done. If you have a job in mind, keep the listing too. You can save it before the rest of your setup is complete.

  • A source you can check for accuracy.
  • A few ideas about what you want from your next role.
  • A listing, if you already have an opportunity in mind.

01 / ACCESS

Create or open your account.

Choose Get started when registration is available, or Sign in if you already have an account. Complete the verification step for your email address using the link provided for that account.

After sign-in, Home gives you a next action from your records. It is your point of return for Profile review, applications and upcoming conversations. Settings lets you review signed-in sessions and export your workspace.

If you cannot get in

An expired verification link needs Resend verification. A forgotten password needs Forgot password. If you cannot obtain the message or use the link, visit the Help center or Contact & support. When registration is closed, existing members can still sign in; see Access & pricing for current availability.

02 / YOUR FOUNDATION

Turn your material into a Profile you trust.

Open Profile and choose Add material. Upload a supported text document, DOCX or text-based PDF, or paste the passages you want to use. Each original is saved before processing, so you can leave and return.

Open Review proposals when suggestions are ready. Read each proposed fact with its evidence. Check the role, organization, dates and your contribution, then save the decisions you want to keep.

ILLUSTRATIVE STARTING NOTE

Begin with what you can explain.

“I helped prepare the monthly reporting pack. I collected updates from the team and checked the figures before review.”

This describes a contribution. It does not establish team leadership, a financial result or a qualification.

  • Confirm a fact when you have checked it.
  • Keep an intention as a plan.
  • Keep an unanswered detail unresolved.
  • Leave a proposal pending when you need more time.
If your material needs another approach

For a scanned PDF, paste readable text. A LinkedIn URL can be a reference, but does not supply facts on its own. You can also add a fact manually, correct an existing fact or supply evidence without asking AI to draft it. A failed source keeps its original; use the recovery action on that source.

03 / YOUR DIRECTION

Decide what your next job needs to offer.

Search requirements records what you want next: roles, work arrangements, location, compensation, travel and other supported conditions. These choices are separate from the experience in your Profile.

Must-have

A condition you deliberately require. For example, a particular work arrangement.

Preference

A condition you value but can weigh against other benefits. For example, a preferred industry.

Leave a field unspecified if you have not chosen yet. Select No preference only when you deliberately accept flexibility. If you set a pay minimum, check the currency and period; if you set a distance limit, supply the reference location.

Choose Review search requirements, read the settings and available effects on saved jobs, then choose Save search requirements. Suggestions become your active choices only through this separate save.

A simple way to make your first choices

Write down what would stop you accepting a role, what would make it more attractive and what you still need to discover. Enter supported conditions in the appropriate fields. Keep unanswered questions visible. Remote work does not establish geographic eligibility or work authorization.

04 / AN OPPORTUNITY

Save a listing and ask two useful questions.

Paste the listing or upload a supported document. Check the retained text, employer details and exact mandatory requirements before analyzing Fit. Missing setup or evidence will explain what still needs review.

Do I meet this job’s requirements?

Compare employer qualifications with confirmed experience. A preferred qualification differs from a mandatory one.

Does this job meet my requirements?

Compare job conditions with your saved must-haves and preferences. A tradeoff differs from a conflict.

Open the finding and its sources. Missing evidence remains unknown. Correct listing details, answer focused questions or deliberately revise your own requirements where appropriate.

Keep answers in the right place

An employer clarification describes the job. A candidate answer describes your experience for that opportunity. A job-specific answer only becomes reusable Profile evidence if you separately offer it for review and confirm it there.

05 / YOUR MATERIALS

Prepare the documents this application needs.

When the job is ready for preparation, open its Application workspace. Choose a resume or a resume and cover letter, select a writing method and layout, then request a draft or write manually from saved evidence.

Read the wording alongside its supporting facts. Answer clarification questions and make corrections before approving anything. An edit creates fresh unapproved files; it does not change your master Profile.

Your file-review checklist

  1. Open the exact DOCX and PDF files for every required document.
  2. Check the facts, wording, page breaks and completeness.
  3. Record your review of those exact files.
  4. Approve the package you intend to use.

A prepared draft, reviewed files and an approved package are different stages. None of them records an application as submitted.

06 / THE REAL ACTION

Apply, then record what you sent.

Use your reviewed files to apply through the employer’s website or your chosen channel. After actually applying, choose Record application and save the real submission date and exact materials.

Keep a useful submission record.

  • The job and employer.
  • The date and timezone of the application.
  • The exact package, or a description of external materials used.
  • The next activity, when there is one.
If you already applied elsewhere

Use the external or historical application option to record what occurred. It can retain earlier materials without pretending they were prepared in Job Hunter. Recording history does not approve a new package or reopen a closed pursuit.

07 / FOLLOW-THROUGH

Leave yourself a clear next step.

Add a follow-up, deadline or interview to the selected application. Choose its date, time and timezone. Calendar returns to the exact job and activity; Interview Prep uses the selected round.

For an employer message, save it in Communication, review the response and send it through your own messaging tool. Copying is not sending. Record the exact response and actual sending time afterward.

ILLUSTRATIVE ACTIVITY NOTE

“Prepare examples for the second-round interview. Review the submitted resume and the employer’s questions before the scheduled conversation.”

Save it against the right application and round so you can return with that context.

If something changes or work stops

Home and saved requests retain progress and recovery links. Return to the same request rather than creating duplicates. Changed Profile facts or Search requirements may require a fresh assessment; approved and submitted files keep their earlier history. See the saved-work help for interrupted or uncertain results.

One useful source is enough to begin.

Start with your material, review what it says and build the rest of your search around it.
